A Crawfordsville man surrendered himself to police this week after he caused a fatal car accident at West McCarty Street and Manhattan Avenue. Both the driver and the passenger of the struck car did not survive their injuries.
Authorities were called to the scene of an accident involving an overturned car. An investigation found that the 24 year-old Crawfordsville man was speeding when he drove through a stop sign and hit another car. The 31 year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the 34 year-old driver died at Wishard Memorial Hospital.
After surrendering to police 11 hours later, the driver informed them he had been drinking prior to the accident. He is facing felony charges of drunk driving involving death.
