A construction accident at a Lafayette Sam’s Club injured a 19 year-old worker after he fell off a scaffolding and landed on a piece of rebar. The man was taken to Indiana University Health Arnett Hospital, the Journal and Courier reports.
Authorities are not sure at this time what caused him to fall. He is said to not have life-threatening injuries after being impaled in the armpit by a steel reinforcing bar.
The Indiana Department of Labor was notified of the accident and said the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be conducting an investigation. The investigation is estimated to be complete in six to eight weeks.
